Fees & Terms

  • Research Charges: Competitive hourly rate. Please enquire for more details.
  • Travel Costs: Travel to the Buckinghamshire Archives – no charge. Travel outside the county charged at appropriate mileage.
  • Photocopies: At cost.
  • Certificates: At cost.
  • Copy Wills: At cost.
  • Photographs: An Archive Photography Permit usually costs between £5 and £10 per day (depending on individual Record Office charge). This charge is paid for by the Client if photographs are required of original documents that cannot be photocopied. Images are charged by size if printed. If preferred photographs can be e-mailed as file attachments to the Client or forwarded by a medium such as Dropbox. There is no transfer charge involved with these methods. Photographs can also be transferred on to a USB memory stick or DVD. In this instance postage and packing charges will apply.
  • Copyright Law must observed by both the researcher and the Client. Photocopies and photographs of some supporting documentation are covered by Copyright Law. Such supporting documentation must only be used for private research unless permission has been agreed otherwise from the owners/source of the original document.
  • On completion of the research assignment the Client will be sent a research report either by post or by e-mail detailing how the research was approached and its findings. Photocopies of any supporting documentation will also be sent with the report. A copy of the report will be kept for a suitable period in my archive, in the event the Client or I need to refer to it again.
  • Confidentiality regarding a Client’s research is maintained at all times and will not be broken unless agreed with the Client.
  • An invoice is sent once the assignment has been completed. If the assignment is a lengthy one the Client will be invoiced in stages at agreed intervals.
  • Payment can be made by Bank Transfer, PayPal, Sterling Cheque or International Money Order.
